Narciso Rodriguez has been the unmatched king of minimalism for quite some time, even when minimalism took a back seat to ladylike opulence and decoration. This season, with graphic, shift dresses and clean pant suits being touted by nearly every major designer, Narcisco takes us on an unexpected path of hardened femininity; It’s a slightly more aggressive, albeit slightly 80’s, feeling than we have come to expect from Mr. Rodriguez.

Continuing with this season’s black patent leather trend, dresses were cut very low in the back and included everything from a molded, red bust, corsetry and ruching, to a, 3-D, maze-like, gathered appliqué along the front. Working primarily in white, steel, black and hints of red, fuchsia, and brown, the collection offered a sense of both strength and youthfulness – two adjectives that always make his work the object of obsession for so many women.
