At the “Women in Hollywood” Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel on September 20, Gwenyth Paltrow looked divine in this all black sheath and her goregous locks piled back and up. However, the star of the evening was Cate Blanchett. Somehow, she always wears dramatic pieces but avoids being overwhelmed by her ensembles. Even with the framing, ruffled neckline and the red lipstick, your eye is immediately drawn to her own natural beauty. People, don’t try this at home. 
Meanwhile, at the New Yorkers For Children annual fall gala dinner in New York City, the word on the street is - surprise! - black (and maybe some white). Everyone from Aussie native Naomi Watts to Marchesa co-designer Georgina Chapman went for this classic combo. Seeing as black and white was also a big trend on the S/S 2007 runways (Ralph, Giles, Preen), get ready to see a lot more of it. Though it will likely come in cheap fabric, so don’t get too excited, my friends.
