Balmain. Get ready to hear a lot more of this name. Once thought of as old and stuffy label, designer Christophe Decarnin has, in jut two seasons, managed to steer the ship around. For the S/S 2007 collection, the young designer went short and metallic, sending out studded mini-dresses, a gold-zippered white jumpsuit, and dresses with beautifully ornamented necklines. Volume came through in bell-shaped sleeves, bubbled hemlines, and cropped pants with a carrot-like shape. It was all finished with strappy, platform gladiator sandals
