Heavy-Handed: Bags that Mean Business

Guns are banned. So are knives. Important measures to secure social safety, right? Of course, although society has overlooked one of the most threatening and potentially lethal items to safety - women’s handbags. Yes, with designers creating handbags fashioned with heavy hardware (think grommets, chains, metal closures, life-like lockets) and whip-like appendages (lariat strings, tassels, fringe), the handbag has become a legitimate, albeit socially accepted, weapon.

As a male, do I not have a right to be protected from the outbursts of a 17-year-old Abercrombie girl who can’t find Uggs in her size? I think so. Society, however, seems to contend otherwise by simply allowing these bags to be paraded around in public places. The worst offenders? The Balenciaga Lariat, the Chloe Padlock, and any bag produced by Guess within the last 2 years.

I swear, I would cause such a fuss if the thought of a chained Marc Jacobs bag hitting me upside the head didn’t sound so appealing.
