Like Michael Richard’s career and the privacy of Britney Spears’ vagina, 2006 was not a kind year for the shoe. I highly doubt that we will look back fondly on a year that welcomed the return of downright fugly footwear. Let’s face it, besides the overkill that was Christian Louboutin, 2006 was a year marked by the renaissance of the ankle bootie and space-age platforms. But, inspite of all the brutality, girls hurried to have the chunky Louis Vuitton patent leather wedged boots and the equestrian-circa-2089 Balenciaga shoes faster than Cuban street kids to Chiclets.
But here is the best of them all. First up is the patent leather Yves Saint Laurent ankle boot. This baby hit on both the patent leather trend and the always-flattering bootie silhouette that inundated stores. Next is the Marc Jacobs petal heel T-bar shoe. These shoes have, what I like to call, a “short and stumpy maid-feel” to them - think Rosario on Will & Grace - and frankly, I like it. Last up is the Chloe Silverado leather wedge. Note to Self: 2006 also hated trees. Big time.

I *love* that conical heel. It’s my absolute favorite.
When you said flattering for the ankle bootie, i hope you were being sarcastic.
