Hedi Slimane is reported to have signed a preliminary contract with PPR-Gucci group in order to launch his own brand. A collective sigh is heard throughout Japan as the hip young men learn the news. Okay, I’m not Japanese, but this is surely exciting.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Dries Van Noten will move his menswear show from Paris to Milan for the s/s 2007-08 collection, as will Marc Jacobs. The move is interesting to see from Dries, considering Milan is always known as the ‘commercial” centre of European fashion and Dries is not necessarily a businessman’s designer. As for Mr. Jacobs, I expect to see an entire thrift-esque collction instead of a few sparse looks spotted throughout the unisex show.
