Pete Doherty’s Bloody Artwork


A short video of Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty’s exhibition in London, showcasing his paintings created using a combination of pencil, pen and his own blood. If confessedly disturbed by it, I could at least appreciate Slimane’s icononographic study of the man in London Birth of a Cult. This, however, feels exacting only its glorification of drug use; if it’s a personal catalyst for healing, then maybe, just maybe, it should stay just that - personal. The hypocrisy of its viral submission is well realized. Watch and decide for yourself.
