Salty Snacks for the Fashionables

Salty Snacks for the Fashionable: Monday, May 21, 2007

New reports today say that designer Sophia Kokosalaki (left) has been outed at Vionnet. Replacing her is Marc Audibet, a well-known admirer of Vionnet, cedited for developing stretch fabrics made from Du Pont’s LYCRA, “the most important development in fashion in the 80’s”. I can’t say I’m chuffed, nor surprised; although all seemed copacetic, fashion intelligentsia have long contended the St. Martin’s grad lacked the expertise to revive a house that irreversibly modernized women’s fashion and whose own interests -pin tucking and pleating - were ostensibly more Madame Gres than Vionnet. And once again, the cutthroat fashion industry holds onto its salty accolades.

Here is the spot of Keira Knightley (right) in the Coco Mademoiselle ads. I was beginning to think Uncle Karl was stringing us along - and not with the house’s pearls. Doesn’t this side boob flash remind you of the Vanity Fair cover with ScarJo and Tom?
