Abscence makes the heart grow…Fashion Hungry?

I do apologize for my absence from Fashion Verbatim. Unfortunately, I’ve spent the last 5 days in a hospital in Edinburgh. It doesn’t look to be life-threatening, but I can tell you that age offers no immunity. Although being in the hospital for this extended period did make me realize a couple of things.
1. Even in the face of death, fashion obsession and vanity linger. Perhaps it explains me trying to convince myself (unsuccessfully) that my floral patterned hospital gown was a poor man’s version of this season’s Prada poppy printed tunics, complete with generously-cut, elbow grazing sleeve. Or rather, would that be sick man’s Prada? Hmmm.
2. The disparity between the savoury-sounding snippets on the hospital menu and the lumpy trough-looking food on the plate is sizeable. Brings to mind all the literature I’ve ever read about Jeremy Scott.
3. With the piles of residual Grazia’s, New Women, and NOW building throughout the waiting rooms, I contend hospital are the foremost breeding ground for bad taste. Two weeks reading all those leftover “fashion-lite” glossies would spur even the most loyal V reader to high street-binge.
4. The generosity of the staff endows more appeal than any Marc Jacobs bag. I’ll admit it – that was hard to type.
Look out for posting to pick up starting tomorrow.
