When a designer opts to use a well-known face like Gisele, they often run the risk of the model overshadowing the brand. And when the brand in question is YSL, a match up of Goliaths is no pipe dream. Thankfully, that didn’t happen here. Gisele, cocooned in the collection’s heavy textiles and sleek accessories, evokes some sort of lone Parisian. Although with contentions that Pilati has virtually castrated the YSL woman (the flower-adorned runway that made the models akin to baby giraffes, recall?), are these ads a step in the right direction?Photos: TFS

I don’t find anything special on the ads, but I think that’s what all they want this year. High luxury, dirty environment. Suddenly it reminds me of Balenciaga’s Spring ads… Plus chic, plus chic.
