Another 90210 remake at the House of Henry Holland? I’ve read the 90210 remake reviews- “corny but trying to be hip, crammed with subplots until the producers figure out which ones the audience responds to.” A similar tongue was wagged at the Henry show. “Sex, Lies and Volleyball”, the collection was themed, reminds me of my favorite 90210 quote “It was just sort of a last minute death.” Mr. Holland, and his aging fashion darling Aggie, were at it yet again, severing up another collection of “lookatme” pieces for the photo-ops at Misshapes. The New-Gen fashion journalist turned designer whipped up a mixture of floral chiffons and polka, yes, dots. Every hint of creation was slandered by the campy Levis-collaboration cut-out jeans. Flair for a delightful fashion jibe and a long standing relation with an on the way out model a good collection does not make. For now Mr. Holland, I’ll stick with my “I spy a Teen Vogue DIY tee.”

Harsh, bitchy, unkind…. and refreshingly true. I’m just not sold on the whole House of Holland thing. There’s a difference between edgy/playful and just willfully ugly. Too much hype and meeja, not enough craft. HofH is a flash in the pan.
