Basicallyblack.com is an online boutique full of sharp basics and contemporary styles that echo the current climate, without being disposably trendy. The catch? Every item is, you guessed it, black (with the exception of a few white pieces). The site was built on the concept that every season, good black pieces are limited, scattered among the revolving carousel of what’s momentarily de rigeur. Well, not here.

This Pleated Silk Dress by Almost Famous (Above Left) has a flattering shape and refined gathering. I like the vents at the waistband of the Raglan Cardigan (Above Middle), which give it free drape around the waistband of jeans or a belt so it won’t bunch. You can see how well it falls in the photo. I would like to see the Voile Assymetric Tunic by Rosemunde (Above Right) with a wide leather waist belt and big, floppy sun hat.

The neckline of the Wide Lace Tank by Rosemunde (Above Left) looks high enough for work, but comely enough that when you get out, you can ditch your blazer and go grab drinks without looking dull. Finally, a Maxi Dress (Above Middle, by Astas by Soaked in Luxury) with a fitted bodice, that isn’t a halter! You can take this anywhere depending on what you wear it with. And the Linen Frill Wrap Dress (Above Right) has the ideal amount of ruffle to keep it unique but not little-girlish.
Cherish knowing that nothing you buy will ever clash with your multicolored python shoes or shocking pink lipstick!
