PETA MAY NOT LOVE LUISA VIA ROMA, BUT I DO

I love Saks and Neiman as much as the next girl, but when I’m going to make an investment buy, I want to find something original and meaningful, not mass market. Let’s be honest, fashion investments don’t exactly serve the same purpose as gold bullion; your old Fendi B. belt isn’t going to raise your net worth. For me, the whole point is finding that out-on-a-limb buy that upgrades everything you wear it with. Why have a million bucks when you can look like it?

Enter Luisa Via Roma, an online store that carries a lot of mainstream luxury brands, but chooses more unique styles and adds in young, fresh designers to spice things up. The “trends” (I hate the word, mainly because if something works for you and you update the outfit, nothing is confined to a certain season) you find here manifest themselves subtly. I loved a bunch of the dark fur/hair pieces for fall…

Gareth PughLes Chiffoniers

I would wear this Gareth Pugh vest (Above Left) with everything…if the price scares you, just think what incredible vintage Gareth will make someday. I also love this Les Chiffoniers skirt (Above Right); not only does the zip detail in the back save you from contemplating a belt, but I think the alpaca fur band is figure-flattering.

GivenchyNicholas Kirkwood

This Givenchy bag (Above Left) is fairly creepy, but it makes an excellent pillow if you should find yourself at a boring party in need of a nap. I’m also thinking that these Kirkwoods (Above Right) would make any sweater and leggings look like avant-garde couture.

Warning: do not channel high-fashion sasquatch with multiple fur/hair pieces.
