Video: Christina Ricci for Donna Karan’s Four Play

In a saturated fashion world where fashion mini-films have become popular, it’s no surprise that Donna Karan has teamed up with Christina Ricci to create a new short film entitled Four Play to promote its Eldridge handbag. Playing the follow of the dreamer, the paramour, the expressionist and the voyeur, Ricci has us wishing we could be experiencing the bright lights of the Big Apple. “I didn’t want it to feel like advertising. I wanted it to feel like something that could be viewed in itself, but using the aesthetic of Donna Karan. There’s a thin line between very unsubtle advertising and doing something that stands alone and has its integrity,” said Jake Sumner, Four Play director (and Sting’s son).

It’s a lot of effort for a handbag (one that we think is kind of average) but handbags and accessories are a major fashion brand’s bread and butter today so it’s understandable.
