When it comes to Karl Lagerfeld, you almost get the sense that the resort explosion was bespoken for him. With each of his three main collections often a pastiche of ideas, 70 looks seem virtually numbing to his creativity. So it's quite surprising that his 2008 resort collection for Fendi was low on new concepts - albeit high on hemlines. Focusing on black, white, and chocolate, with shots of turquoise and electric yellow, he offered up easy day dresses, Ch***el-inspired cardis and suits, and logo-heavy beachwear for Fendi's insolent clientele. A short film produced for the Cruise 2008 collection. As uncharacteristically democratic as it may be, I find it hard to believe Uncle Karl approved the final edit. The airplane voice overs are noticeably languid for a man who only thinks fast-speaking individuals garner any interest from him.

Um...is ladylike back? Just when we grow accustomed to junk-coloured garb and carpeted gilets, she sends out purposefully cumbersome circle skirts in bleached out floral prints, fruit-coloured cashmere knits, and embellished Mary Janes.
