  When discussion circles around Alberta Feretti, you have to question the validity of the whole Cupid-as-winged-cherub-thing. And while I make no guaranties of Ferretti's personal matchmaking capabilities, her observation of the romantic is eerily Cupid-ic in nature.   This is perfection marred. The obvious choice of the stylized leggings could be grounds for automatic disaster, but Elbaz's Parisian chic apparel more than rescued the pre-fall collection.Continuing from where Marc Jacobs left off in NY, Elbaz showed a very 20s/30s inspired collection, mixing the long, lean silhouette of the Flapper era with the classicism and draping of the following decade.   Purposefully architectural, slightly Gothic, Ricardo Tisci was thankfully up to his tried-and-true antics for his Pre-fall Givenchy collection. It is this intellectual darkness that has become synonymous with Tisci. For pre-fall, with Kim Noorda as the model, he offered up a sumptuous military jacket, slightly A-line silhouettes that looked as fluid as they did structured, and a two-tiered full length gown for the anti-thesis to Jessica Simpson.   Modeled by Bette Frank, Marc showed a collection that looked like a close cousin to his grunge collections of late. Far from the spring offering for his namesake like, these clothes were layered and un-glamourously romantic. The standout were the skirts, which came ruched, pleated, gathered and bunched, suggesting an alluring rural ballerina quality. This penchant for rolling fields was carried through to equestrian boots, wooly tights, and tweed jackets.
