There was still that architectural quality that is synonymous with Armani, but he softened it up without verging into Valentino territory. Think Indian Princess meets Parisian Ballerina.   After one look at those Japanese prints and origami pleats, I was ready to declare the Dior show the couture show of the season. And then this - the Givenchy HC S/S 2007 show by Ricardo Tisci.With a sinister, gothic undertone throughout, Tisci indisputably blew the candles out on Galliano's candy coloured parade. Categorically modern, yet profoundly rich in hand, the collection established an arresting conflict between architectural structure - very literally - and romantic frou.   Airy, frilly, convential prettiness to the extreme. For his HC S/S 2007 collection, master couturier Valentino played it remarkably safe, with the tried-and-true formula of yards of lace, tiers of tulle, and more romanticism than aHarlequin romance, minus the sexual rigor, of course.   In a 360 degree turn from the subdued Joan of Arc-inspired spring RTW collection, Galliano takes us on a painstakingly beautiful trip to Japan for the Dior S/S 2007 Haute Couture show. Padded Kimonos, origami-like pleating, and Japanese flower prints remind us why Galliano is one of a kind. From the dramatic hats to the oversized pleats, the collection was a buffet for the eyes- sans, of course, the disturbing after effects.
