In a 360 degree turn from the subdued Joan of Arc-inspired spring RTW collection, Galliano takes us on a painstakingly beautiful trip to Japan for the Dior S/S 2007 Haute Couture show. Padded Kimonos, origami-like pleating, and Japanese flower prints remind us why Galliano is one of a kind. From the dramatic hats to the oversized pleats, the collection was a buffet for the eyes- sans, of course, the disturbing after effects. It is this ability to provide as much of punch from a distance as up close, which elevates Galliano to an echelon only occupied by himself.
This will be a collection to be remembered.
