Yes, The Skinnier Olsen definitely exhibits some Courtney Love eccentricities at times - the mid-sentence hand waves, the impromptu air guitar, the “I-look-like-I-have-been-passed-out-for-three-days” look - but this is not what I am referring to. Rather, I am alluding to Mary Kate’s spaced-out, white, Rayban (?)Wayfarer sunglasses. And you thought leggings meant the ’80’s were back…

Similar glasses were sported by models on the S/S 2007 Proenza Schouler (above) runway and black, nerdy, Buddy-Holly style versions have been popular for quite some time among models (see Lily Donaldson below) and hipsters - or better yet - models who want to be hipsters.
As a spectacle-wearing member of society, I am tied to glasses for corrective vision purposes, rather than for their style projection capabilities. Definitely not the most flattering look, but if you’ve opened up a fashion magazine lately, flattering is not necessarily the first objective…

I like those shades though as they look kind og ugly in a cool way and they’re exactly what I wore when I was little. Oh, the 80’s, I was too young then, but now I find a lot of fun in it.
