Marc Jacobs is probably the most overhyped designer, i know of. Does it have to do something with american vogue's constant championing of new york designers? Not being american, i really never can get what's so special about marc jacobs (or louis vuitton clothes) for that matter. The collection looked awkward to me and now I know why...anyways how can you top lanvin's beautiful collection?

While I agree his collection was terrible I don't see any referencing or copying in any of these pictures....

The first two aren't similar in the slightest
The seconds ONLY similarity is the silhouette which isn't groundbreaking to begin with
The third is the MOST simple of any dress design and I could find about 5000 dresses that resemble those 2
The fourth once again, I can find hundreds of dresses with the design from recent years all the way back to the 50s.

No sense.....

Bah. Boring collection, not just because there was nothing fresh about it, but it's unappealing even if one doesn't know about the referencing.

a word: Reappropriation!

I thought his creative line was clear when he decided to use fine artist into his work with LV for like ever...
It seems very clear to me that he is not trying to be original...People with lust of originality might be a very small portion in the market...so who cares? in posmodern times elitisim does not work but for those that build shrines to the futile god of"originality

Maybe jacobs in an ecxorsist!

[...] Incluso el enfant terrible de Nueva York, al que todos admiran, que siempre nos aparece rompedor y con alguna locura nueva, incluso Marc Jacobs, repite propuestas de otros diseñadores como Lanvin o Calvin Klein. [...]
